Preliminary Electoral Roll (Details)
The next triennial local body elections will be held in 2019. Subject to the final determination of any current representation reviews, elections will be held for:
3 councillors to represent the Opuha Ward
3 councillors to represent the Pukaki Ward
4 members to represent the Fairlie Community Board
4 members to represent the Tekapo Community Board
4 members to represent the Twizel Community Board
2 members to represent the South Canterbury/Ōtuhituhi Constituency of the Canterbury Regional Council (ECan)
7 members to represent the South Canterbury District Health Board

Nominations for all positions open on Friday 19 July 2019. Nominations close 12 noon on Friday 16 August 2019.
Nominations must be made on the appropriate nomination paper for each position, available from the Deputy Electoral Officer.
Completed nomination papers must be received by the Deputy Electoral Officer no later than 12 noon on Friday 16 August 2019.
Each nomination must be accompanied by a deposit of $200 (incl GST), payable by eftpos, cash or online banking (see candidate handbook for requirements).
Candidates may submit a candidate profile statement and recent photograph for sending out with voting documents to electors. The requirements for profile statements and photos are outlined in a Candidate Information Handbook which is available with the nomination papers or on local authority websites.
South Canterbury District Health Board candidates must also submit a Conflict of Interest Statement with their nominations. Requirements for a Conflict of Interest Statement are included in the Candidate Information Handbook. Evidence of NZ Citizenship should be provided.
All nomination documents must be lodged together (i.e. nomination paper, candidate profile, photo, deposit and Conflict of Interest Statement [for DHB candidates only]). Candidates should refer to the candidate handbook for further details.

Non-Resident Ratepayer Enrolment
Do you live outside the Mackenzie District and pay rates on a property in the District? Then you may qualify to vote in Mackenzie District Council's Local Body Elections.
Eligibility to enrol on the Ratepayer Electoral Roll depends on individual circumstances, but in each case only one ratepayer elector can vote irrespective of the number of properties owned.
Enrolments for the Ratepayer Electoral Roll are open now and close on 16 August 2019. To enrol on the Ratepayer Electoral Roll use the Ratepayer Enrolment Form.
