Shannon Graham always knew she wanted to do a practical and hands on job. She was able to do her Gateway placement with Damon Smith Electrical Ltd in Fairlie.
Shannon spent 2021 learning about all the different aspects of electrical work, thoroughly enjoying it.
Damon Smith, owner of Damon Smith Electrical Ltd, was impressed with Shannon’s ability and enthusiasm so offered her the opportunity to join the team and begin her apprenticeship.
Shannon was also a recipient of the Prime Ministers' Vocational Excellence Awards in 2021 where she received acknowledgement of her exceptional work through Gateway.
Damon met with Leaine Rush, Mayors Taskforce for Jobs (MTFJ) co-ordinator for the Mackenzie District, to discuss funding opportunities and was successful in receiving funding to assist with training costs, tools and PPE gear.
The Mackenzie District Council and MTFJ wish Shannon all the best with her new career.
