An upgrade project is taking place at the Mackenzie Drive car park, adjacent to Four Square Mackenzie and Twizel Events Centre, starting Monday 10 January and finishing Friday 4 February.

An urbanisation project is taking place on Aorangi Crescent, Tekapo, starting on Monday 10 January and finishing on Friday 4 February. The project is being undertaken by Schick Civil, who are contracted by Mackenzie District Council.

New Toilet Proposals

Council has been successful in receiving funding from the Government's Tourism Infrastructure fund to assist in the improvement of public toilet facilities at Lake Ruataniwha, Lake Pukaki Lookout (SH8) and Fairlie town centre.

Fairlie Cemetery re-opened

Fairlie Cemetery has re-opened to public access. The cemetery was closed due to recent high wind levels causing considerable damage to trees in and around the cemetery grounds.

Alps2Ocean moves into new phase

Starting as a partnership between Waitaki and Mackenzie District Councils that has now seen a decade of success, the Alps2Ocean (A2O) cycle trail is moving into its next phase by restructuring its governance and operation model, starting with the appointment of a permanent trail manager.

Mayors Taskforce for Jobs - Joe Brien, M J Donnelly, Fairlie

Joe Brien was the first person to benefit from the Mayoral Taskforce for Jobs (MTFJ) funding. MTFJ and the Mackenzie District Council were pleased to support Joe and his employer, M J Donnelly, Fairlie, with funding to assist with purchasing a toolbox (pictured) and tools for his work.

Mackenzie District Council completes refurbishment of Fairlie and Twizel offices

Council’s Long-Term Plan for 2018 to 28 (LTP) contained a placeholder funding allocation of $514,000 for a project to refurbish the Fairlie Office.
