The Regional Events Fund, set up as part of Government’s Tourism Recovery package, has been created to stimulate domestic tourism and travel between regions through holding events.
The fund is intended to support the tourism and events sector and replace some of the spend from international tourists due to COVID-19.
The fund is separated between regions, Canterbury and West Coast allocated $7 million over a 2–4-year timeframe. A part of the Canterbury and West Coast share is the Mackenzie Regional Event fund, administered by Mackenzie Tourism.
There are two upcoming funding rounds for the Mackenzie Regional Event fund.
