Pestmasters NZ are today (21 June 2021) commencing rabbit control activity at the Lake Alexandrina Huts, Tekapo on behalf of Mackenzie District Council.
This follows correspondence with the Hutt holders (presidents), DOC and adjacent landowners at Balmoral station. Signs have been placed at all the entries to the Hut areas. Pindone is distributed via carrots which are dyed green and are toxic to people and animals. Poison bait and carcasses are deadly to dogs. Please take care if in the impacted area.
The Department of Conservation is also conducting an ariel pindone application at the north end of Lake Alexandrina. The combination of activity in the Glenmore, Balmoral and the Alexandrina Hut areas means we have a real chance of seriously impacting rabbit numbers in the area.
