Tomorrow a totara tree will be planted in Fairlie to commemorate the coronation of King Charles III.
The tree will be planted tomorrow afternoon at 1.00 on the Village Green Fairlie, near the statue of the soldier. Members of the public, Councillors and Community Board members are invited to attend.
A plaque will be installed soon.
Council has donated three totara trees, one for each of our major townships. The totara was chosen because it is regarded as a chiefly tree, a symbol of nobility and chieftainship.
The Lake Tekapo tree has been planted at Murray Park, and the Twizel tree will be planted near the entrance to the town and the historic machinery.
