Work is underway to upgrade the stormwater pipework in Market Place, Twizel.
We expect work to start on Monday 10 June 2024. We expect the work to end on about Tuesday 20 August 2024. The hours of work will be 7:00am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday. However, it may be necessary for some work to take place outside these hours in the event of an emergency.
Council’s contractors are committed to maintaining pedestrian access during this time, although walkways will be limited to under the verandas for periods of time.
Work will be done in three sections. Section 1 (approximately 10 June to 3 July) will start at the Tasman Road entrance and Section 3 will take place (approximately 26 July to 20 August) near the playground.
The car parks nearest the playground will not be available for the public for the duration of the works as the contractors will be using them as a base for their operations.
Each section of work will be fenced off and clearly signed. Each section will be completed before the next section starts. This will help keep the disruption to businesses and pedestrians to a minimum while maintaining safe access to all areas of Market Square.
As this work is on the stormwater network we do not expect it to have an impact on the drinking water supply.
Our contractors will be working with the businesses involved to keep them up to date with progress. If you have any queries please contact Council on 0800 685 8514 or info@mackenzie.govt.nz.
