Mackenzie District Council is Making Building Consents Easier to lodge, faster and more transparent

From mid-March it will become easier to apply for and manage your building consent applications with Mackenzie District Council with the launch of Objective Build.

Objective Build is an online system for applying for and managing building consents. It is used by many councils across New Zealand and allows building and construction industry professionals to handle multiple applications, across multiple councils, from a single account. It improves the ability to reuse information across applications, clearly see the status of an application, see updates that require action, and manage a consent throughout the lifecycle.

Individuals who are new to the consenting process and requirements can access a comprehensive collection of online guides and information to help with their application.

Council anticipates that users will find the new system easy to use, and a more efficient way to manage their consent applications, however paper-based applications will still be accepted.

Objective has over 20 years of history working with councils across the world, and decades of experience in building and planning.  This new system has been built after interviews with over a hundred builders, architects, designers, and industry professionals across New Zealand to ensure it meets their needs.

Council initiated the change as the current, outdated software has reached the end of its useful life and is being withdrawn from the market. Mackenzie District Council Chief Executive Officer, Angela van Oosthuizen said ‘We endeavour make it easier for people to access our systems and services, and we are delighted to be working with Objective to provide this new functionality. It will significantly improve the user experience and allow our customers to track the progress of their application online. The majority of people who lodge consent applications with us are familiar with similar systems and will now be able to benefit from the improved experience they have come to expect from dealing with most other Councils.
