Business Excellence Awards

The Business Excellence Awards are taking place for 2023. The awards recognise and celebrate business excellence, playing an important role in promoting and strengthening economic development in the South Canterbury region.

Firebreak improvement work - Hamilton Drive - Murray Place Firebreak - Tekapo

Starting on Wednesday 26 April contractors will be working to reduce the risk of wildfire by improving the firebreak along Hamilton Drive/Murray Place in Tekapo.

Closing Ohau Road Hill - April 2023 update

Because of safety concerns, we are asking the public to stop using the hill area on the western side of Ohau Road, Twizel.

Plan Change 13 and 19 - Rural Zone and Activities on or within Waterbodies

Public notice is hereby given that at an ordinary Council meeting held on 20 September 2022, the Mackenzie District Council formally approved Plan Change 13 and Plan Change 19 to the Mackenzie District Plan in accordance with Clause 17{1) of the First Schedule to the Resource Management Act 1991 {the Act).

Plan Change 20 - Strategic Direction Chapters Formally Approved by Council

Public notice is hereby given that at an ordinary Council meeting held on 28 March 2023, the Mackenzie District Council formally approved Plan Change 20 to the Mackenzie District Plan in accordance with Clause 17(1) of the First Schedule to the Resource Management Act 1991 (the Act).

Pest control night shooting - Tekapo area

Night shooting, for pest control of wallabies will take place at Tekapo Forestry Block, over the period of 17 April until 20 April 2023.

Plan Change 22 - Light

Pursuant to Clause 10 of Schedule 1 of the Resource Management Act 1991 the Mackenzie District Council gives public notice of the decision of the Independent Hearing Panel on Plan Change 22 to the Mackenzie District Plan.

Resource Consent Notification - RM220048

The Mackenzie District Council and Canterbury Regional Council (Environment Canterbury) have received applications from A W & K F Simpson (the applicants) for resource consents to construct and operate a solar array on a 113ha area of land on Balmoral Station, 397 Braemar Road, Lake Tekapo.
